Saturday, June 16th – Wishing I was in Copenhagen, Lima or somewhere in Russia.    I’d even take being in San Ramon with Kevin and his father…

Kevin getting his Danish on…

Cheering on the Danish team in Russia, from San Ramon…you have to love the World Cup!

Unfortunately, I am in Loomis (nothing against Loomis) at The Ugly Mug Cafe.  I called ahead and they said they would play the game, but on arrival, it took awhile trying to get the staff to find the game on one of their four tv’s.  Apparently the Peruvian and Danish population in Loomis isn’t what it used to be. After changing out the remote batteries, we finally got it on in the backroom so I am good to go!  I’m watching this one in Spanish, although it doesn’t matter as they wouldn’t let me turn the sound up…

Not in Copenhagen, Lima or Russia but instead in Loomis watching the game on their backroom TV…

It’s a typical World Cup day in a busy schedule.  Work the games into your schedule anyway possible.

2:50am wakeup for France vs Australia.  I have to be honest, I’m not at my best at that hour and despite my best efforts, I nodded on and off during France’s 2-1 win.

6:00am caught the first half of Argentina’s 1-1 tie with Iceland before loading up my daughter Gabby, niece Lili and their teammate Sophie at 7:00 to head to Loomis (think Sacramento area) for their game against Placer United.

9:00am arrival in Loomis, giving me plenty of time to find nearest place (which happened to be Ugly Mug) to catch at least the first half during their warmups.

10:15am Heading to watch Gabby play now.  I love the World Cup, but also enjoy watching my kids play.  Plus, I am recording every game, so if time allows when I get back home, I can watch the games I missed.  Realistically, I will rely on highlights and recaps unless any of the games turn out to be epic ones like the Spain vs Portugal game.
